Cariad@iaith – the Reunion
This December Popeth Cymraeg will be continuing its collaboration with Fflic to produce an update to this year’s popular Cariad@iaith programmes. The programme will be filmed in Nant Gwrtheyrn, the residential Welsh Language Centre in the Llŷn Peninsula. The Cariad@iaith programmes use the De-Suggestopedia method used on Popeth Cymraeg’s Unlimited Learning courses.
Popeth Cymraeg and Cariad@iaith
At the end of May this year 8 celebrities were filmed learning Welsh at the Fforest activity centre in Cilgerran, near Cardigan. The S4C programme, Cariad@iaith, followed the 8 as they sought to ingest as much Welsh as possible within that week. The method used by the teachers Nia Parry and Ioan Talfryn in the classes is very unique and unlike traditional language teaching. It was created in Bulgaria under the name Suggestopedia by Dr. Georgi Lozanov and is based on the observations that everyone picks up information both consciously and unconsciously (mostly unconsciously), that learning is much more effective when it is fun and stress free and that the most important factors in achieving success in learning are the expectations of both teachers and students as to the students’ learning potential. According to the celebrities it was the method and style of teaching that made the week such a success.
